Restaurant „Chardak“ - Eastern European restaurant in Skopje, Macedonia
Very good traditional Macedonian meal. Shopska salad and Zelnik are definitely worth a try.
Great experience. The beef stew could be a bit better. Great selection of add-ons that go with the bread, I just wish the makalo was less spicy (it should be a dream for someone who eats spicy food). Finally a big thanks to the staff, very fast, reliable and hardworking, especially the server with the best mustache ever 😂
Amazing, delicious meal.Friendly atmosphere.Beautiful place.Kudos to the waiter with impressive moustache.
Great place, nice music, excellent service and fantastic food!
Good traditional restaurant with traditional music and food
I liked the atmosphere in this restaurant more than the food, in the evening they had a really nice band for music :When we went the place was full so the service was quite slow
Really nice place in a good ambiance street. Spacious tables with great decor. Good choice of drinks except for spirits. Food is good but not great.
They have no a wine cart!?Unbeliavable...we ordered a liter draft wine and they charged us 6x180 denars! Dont know how they divide a liter on a 6 parts!?Strictly...NOT recomended!
They served us low quality meat!We didnt even touch it, left imitate. We were charged for the meals
Nice ambient, quick and pleasant staff. Fair prices. Weve ordered two dishes: some pork ribs, and a knuckle in mushrooms sauce.Ribs were great, and knuckle - well, we ate way better on other places.
Amazing food.
Nice place with tasty food and live music!
Good service & Quite good food & Slightly higher prices
Perfect place for any occasion. Recommended.Renowned with new enteriour. Frendly staff willing to help you chosing the best option from the menu.
Ethno restaurant at a prime location in the center of Skopje.
The girl that was serving us was super nice and helpful. The place is pretty average the best thing is the location, they have recently renovated the interior and their terrace and is more comfortable and appealing than before. But their prices skyrocketed, 180 MKD (3 eurfor a small mixed salad and 1200 MKD (20 eurfor a fried platter that had mostly fried onions is not a way to do business. I wont be coming here soon.
Ethno restaurant, good service and tasty food.
Great food and friendly people.
This place is wonderful. Prices are good, actually it is rather cheap! Dinner for 2 cost us less than 20eur. We had dinner there 2 nights in a row since we liked it so much and didn’t wanna experiment further. We had Greek and Šopska salad which were both fresh and tasty, fried zucchini and onion rings, fresh and delicious! Onion rings made from scratch, not the pre made frozen ones. We had an appetizer called Nafora which is toasted bread with shredded fresh cheese. Delicious! The only regret is that they didn’t have veal stew both times, for some reason they only serve it for breakfast which is very strange. Also, I believe the vegetable oil should be exchanged for olive oil but overall the experience was great and I would 10/10 recommend! Also, there’s a smoking and a non smoking area, the staff is polite and the service is fast. The bathrooms are clean.
This was one of my best dining experiences in Skopje... They have an excellent collection of appetizers... Definitely give their mixed appetizers a try... Also their pies are exceptional... Perfectly made... Highly recommended... And the service was great...
Seating outside on a pedestrian street. Good traditional food, polite waiter. The chilli peppers were proper hot! :)
Great food and wonderful staff. Very helpful with the menu and local dishes. Decorations add to the ambiance of the traditional dishes.
Nice restaurant offering some a very original local dishes. Recommended.
Nice traditional cousine. Gravče tavče a little bit too plain for my taste, but still very tasty
Very good service, English and attentive. The food was great, drob sarma, spinach pie and macedonian salad. The place has many restaurants, this one was the fullest. Good prices for medium to big portions.
In the morning I made a reservation for 7 people. When we arrived the table was reserved only for 6 people because of the corona protocols, when we made the reservation that information was not given to us. They were not even trying to solve the problem to at least somewhat compensate for their mistake. When we looked around we found one more table at the same restaurant, when there were 8 and more people siting at the same table. We stood up and walked out ASAP.Heard the food was great but to bad we did not get to experience it.
Very good service, tasty food, and good atmosphere!
The place is very average, I asked for a greek salad that didnt come with olives (just one on top, maybe they think is a cherryneither oregano, the cheese was terrible and vegetables old. The chicken steak was tasteless and just with old fries and lot of oil. Ive been to other restaurant same day and asked the same and was very tasty and great salad, thus I reduce one star for the bad salad and very average chicken. Btw, the food looks good in the picture, way better than when you eat it.
Nice restaurant on popular place...Good food
Tried a few restaurants in that area. This one was very good! Enjoyed the food and wines. The food was nicely served, where I remember that it did take a little longer than average, but we had a very large order so its expected. Would definitely go back.*One slightly negative thing would would be the competing live musical performances from the other establishments next door.
Im giving it 4 stars just because they mixed up our reservation and we didnt get the table that we asked for. Also the service was very slow. We had to wait 15 minutes just for drinks. Other than that, the food was excellent and the prices are fair.
A nice place on Bohemian Street to have dinner. Sometimes local guests are there drinking, playing instruments and singing (Sunday when we were there). Went twice and had one 5* and one 3* experience. Service always decent.Leek pie they are well known for. Overall very good, although 2nd time was undercooked and the dough was a bit raw in places. Sarma (both cabbage and vine versionsare excellent. Claypot Cardak is a bunch of meats thrown together with too much salt - I wouldnt get this.Excellent prices though for the quality overall.Updated menu attached.
I had a wonderful evening with friend here. The food was amazing and the prices were absolutely ok. Best part of the evening was the live music with friendly and enjoyable musicians. Thanks for the evening.
Had dinner at this cosy , relaxing place last night . I really enjoyed the relaxing Atmosphere . We had a delicious mixed platter full of traditional dips accompanied by fried cheese and for mainnwe ordered a type of pork stew baked in a clay pot which was divine . So were desserts . Service was friendly and non obtrusive . All that including local beer , small wine and a shot of rakja for around 30 Euros . They will see me again !!!!
Very very Macedonian! Good food and service. Very popular place in popular street. U can eat Macedonian meze while Macedonian musician are singing....Also there is a vinous part. I recomend
Really good veal stew, bread and breakfast. Decent prices. Service can be a bit slow some times, but well worth a visit.
Firstly, food deserves 4-5 stars! It’s delicious, nice served, no objections! The 3-stars note is only to point out that service should be improved! Despite we sat outside because inside they had no available places, we were expecting a correct attention (waiting time to order, to request the bill...). I hope that I’ll be back soon and experience an improvement from this perspective!
Love, love, love everything about it! Excellent place to eat, have a drink and enjoy traditional Macedonia cuisine and music in a good company
Another average restaurant with high prices. Unbearably loud and very crowded. Meat taken out of freezer, warmed up and served. Thanks but no thanks.
Not friendly lying personnel!!!There were 5 free tables, said that everything was booked! We were beautifully domesticated in the restaurant opposite. For one and a half hours, the tables were free!!!!
Amazing food for a great price
Enjoyed a wonderful traditional meal here with a group of five people. The staff were extremely courteous and accomodating, and the atmosphere was a perfect encapsulation if Balkan eating. All the various dishes we ordered were delicious and of a high quality. The melted cheese was a particular favourite as was the selection of “Makalo” (Dipsthat we’re on offer.Weekends often have roaming musicians as well which adds to the ambience and for a few Denari will make you the centre of their attention.Would happily return here for a Balkan experience.
Amazing atmosphere, LOVELY food (you wont get hungry soon after going to this restaurant), very friendly waiters, great coffee, good prices (for us Dutch people especially, we paid 6 euros per person including drinks and everything!), nice seating-area, so many different dishes, great portions, no tablemoney!!!Only two small things: there were some cats and dogs and some people were smoking. But, I would go here again!!! :)Would absolutely recommend to go eat here!
Food in this place plays a leading role. Every dish that we ordered here (a mixed plate of "cardak" with cold appetizers, "shopska", smoked sausages, home-made cheese pie, pork stitch and other grilled meatwas well seasoned and the meats was juicy. If you are not familiar with the Macedonian cuisine, this place is a good start to your journey. However, you must take into account that dishes are quite "heavy". However, this is due to the characteristics of this region. Dishes contain various types of cheese (often much more salty than their counterparts in other cuisinesand quite a lot of oil. Skara - grilled dishes - are the basis of this cuisine. The restaurants decor is traditional, and waiters dressed in folk costumes add climate to this place. However service is the worst part of this restaurant. I was there twice and each time I was served by the same person. I ordered drought beer, but I received bottled. At first time I asked waiter that dishes should be served in order of ordering. Waiter totally ignored my request. The second time I asked him if additives such as potatoes are included in the menu, or should be ordered separately. Waiter said that they should be ordered, which wasnt true. If we asked for extra bread he just bring some without asking how many we wanted to order. This resulted in the fact that we had a lot more food than we wanted and we could eat. Whats more, if there are more people at the table, the dishes are served as they go, not in a way that everyone can eat together. Which lead to situation that some people eat their dinner, while others were waiting for their order. All in all if you focus on food not on service, its a very nice place.
Awesome food and great service. Have to try the traditional Macedonian pita among everything which is really tasty.
Cheap and quality food. Quite quick service. The best meat Ive ever tried. There was also a band playing live traditional music.
National restaurant with excellent food and service. Great location in the heart of the bohemian quart only can be too crowded and too loud sometimes. It is a place for watching foodball matches and live music traditional bands.
The atmosphere is lovely and there is enough space for a large group of people. The prices are realistic and the food is great. I would recommend their traditional dish "Banicka". The meat is usually good, but there have been times when it was a miss.
Horrible service and mediocre food. Waiters too busy on their phone, food takes ages - and disappoints when there. Shame, as location and street atmosphere is great: beware #itsatrap
Food was tasty, service is a bit slow. You should definitely try this place!
